April is Counseling Awareness Month! Counseling Awareness Month is celebrated to raise awareness and promote mental health to people of all ages. It also highlights the importance of counseling professionals — mental health counselors, psychotherapists, school and college counselors, substance abuse counselors, and career counselors. This celebration also seeks to eradicate the stigma of seeking help for mental illnesses. Professionals are here to help, and it doesn’t make anyone less of a person to ask for guidance. This all started with the dream of a little girl who wanted to help other children around the holidays!
